A leaf miner on oak
I found some leaf mines of Tischeria ekebladella during habitat assessments at Caeau Ffos Fach yesterday. This is one of the few miners of oak which makes a distinctive mine (though some sawfly mines are superficially similar), so it's worth looking out for. There are 8 records shown on the 2013 Carms Moth List so I guess it's quite thinly spread in the county.

Thanks George - there are only single records from 2014 and 2015 despite me doing a lot of mining in both years: Tischeria ekebladella is remarkably scarce. I have seen it twice this autumn in VC35, both times abundantly on a single Oak but absent from all others nearby. All very odd!!
