Yesterday in Carms

I visited Blaen Cib farm, east of Llandeilo, yesterday to look for Marsh Fritillaries. Dai Stacey had organised the visit with the landowner and accompanied me for the first part of a walk through the extensive rhos pastures at the site. Despite some nice habitats we didn't see any Marsh Frits, though it was largely cloudy. Two Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries were some compensation. Moths included a Campion at rest on a marsh thistle and Bilberry Tortrix Aphelia viburnana.

Later I called in briefly at our Median Farm reserve, Cross Hands, and as well as the usual Burnet Companions disturbed this Waved Carpet from a tree.
