Ice on the car two nights ago: much warmer last night. An early sharp shower was a bit worrying, but there were no damaged moths among the total of 104 (17 species) that visited the MV trap at Cwmllwyd last night. All were common springtime species according to the books, but I've only recorded Emperor Moth once before up here and the dark form of Pale Brindled Beauty is new to me.
Very pleased this morning!
Good records Steve. Yes, last night was a good night and worth trapping - I had a good variety of the usual suspects at my home trap and equally at one of my new for 2016, `away from home` sites, where I had 20+ species. I`ll blog later...
ReplyDelete...and I forgot, great photos Steve esp the emperor. It seems that moth`ers in Pembs, Ceredigion and Glam also took advantage of the better trapping conditions last night.
ReplyDeleteOooh green with envy over your Emperor moth Steve, well done.
