Today Julian Friese and I made the most of a sunny day and took a trip up the Cothi valley looking for whatever turned up. In all we saw 9 silver-washed fritillaries at various places, a few brimstone butterflies, a holly blue, numerous commas and many other butterflies all enjoying the sunshine like ourselves.
The Cothi Valley is a stronghold for SW frits and the brimstone records are particularly interesting, as this species is extremely local in inland Carms. Please note down the grid refs of the sightings for all of them, before you forget.
