late summer at Cnwc
After a disastrous 5 moths of 3 spp here on Thursday night - depressingly as we had a wildlife-mad teenager staying and I'd hoped to enthuse him about moths - the trap was a little busier last night. There didn't seem to be any real headliners among the 69 species, but on checking my database I realised that Garden Tiger and Pale Mottled Willow were actually new for the site (taking my Macro total to 310 spp). Otherwise, the mix was typical of mid/late summer on the upland edge, with Grass Emerald, Narrow-winged Pug, Dotted Clay, Antler Moth, Small Rufous and Slender Pug. Best of the Micros was the gorgeous Tortricid Eudemis profundana new for the site (Micros now at 271 spp).
