Three species of Macro came to the Cnwc porch light last night (13/2/15): 4 Spring Usher, 3 Pale Brindled Beauty and 2 Early Moth. Two nights previously (11/2/15) there was 1 Dotted Border, 1 Winter Moth and several Early Moth. The mothing season has certainly begun at last!
Well done, Sam. I was hoping to trap again tonight, but the forecast has now changed to clear spells etc, so I may not. But then, home trapping is so easy at this time of year (fewer moths to det. etc), and the later winter species are probably `tough nuts`, so I may...we`ll see!
ReplyDeleteYour magic porch light strikes again, Sam! Is this specially set up for moths? Is it MV? Do you leave it on every night? Is this a technique that we can all emulate, or are you just in very productive habitat. Do tell.
