Thanks for posting Barry. I always like those Stratiomys flies....both singularior and potamida occur at Machynys Ponds (the first tends to prefer brackish and second sp more freshwater). Strangely, I`ve had (in the 1990s) singularior on settling lagoons at the old Cynheidre colliery site nr Five Roads, but there was something odd re the salinity of the water with plenty of sea club-rush etc. Could be salts released from the waste shales or as part of the colliery operations.
ReplyDeleteClive Jones had red-eyed damselfly at Furnace Pond (Trebeddrod Res) c 2-3 weeks ago, so these dmaselflies are colonising. I`ve been meaning to go to Machynys Ponds to check....time is needed!
