Below are some micros caught on Friday night at Bynea (habitats = upper saltmarsh, swamp and dry brownfield site). I`ve rather quickly attempted identifying a few, but doubtless several will be wrong - please correct or determine. Apologies too for the photos....this Christmas I`ll be getting a decent camera. I will not be winning any prizes for those shown below!
I`d appreciate any help from the micro wizards please!
1. Above: Eucosma sp?
2. Above: Limnaecia phragmitella?
3. Above: Blastobasis adjustella?
4. Above: I think this photo is 3 above with its wings partially open.
5. Above: Digitivalva pulicariae?
Away from moths, I found that a Populus nigra var betulifolia (true native black poplar) was infested by galls, perhaps the aphid gall Pemphigus spyrothecae, which I recall is confined to Populus nigra or its direct derivatives. I can`t quickly find my gall key, so this is provisional! The small tree grows alongside the track by Glynea Pond.
Agree with your ids Ian. The Eucosma isn't really clear enough for certain id to species.
