Also found at Pembrey Forest on Wednesday was this pair of rather large moth eggs on Grey Willow. Another pair of identical-looking eggs was found on a young Poplar on the same day.
At the time I thought these would be Puss Moth, based on their large size and the plants on which they were laid, and they seem a good match to the photos of the eggs of this species on ukleps.org.
I've never seen the spectacular larva of this species so am looking forward to trying to rear them through; hopefully the kids will enjoy them as much as me!
The Puss Moth seems to come to light only sparingly so perhaps looking for the eggs would be the best way to survey for this species - they were quite obvious on the upper surface of the leaves.

I found puss moth caterpillars on a solitary crack willow out on Pembrey Saltings, back in the late 1980s.
