Still not a huge variety of species in the trap here in Cilycwm, and numbers dominated by Hebrew characters. Did get a Great prominent last night which was a bit of a highlight.
Otherwise brindled beauties, common quakers and first early thorns.

I`m jealous, Isabel! Great Prominent is a species that I don`t seem to get here in SE Carms. One target of my moth trapping earlier in the week at Cwm Mawr (Stradey Woods) was to see if it was present in that oak cwm. I did n`t catch any.
ReplyDeleteIt is rare in Glamorgan, with only four records from that well-recorded county, the last being in 1956! I wonder how far south it reaches in Carms....I seem to recall Mat having it at Carmel?
A moth that has been turning up in lowland Glamorgan in recent weeks is the unmistakable dotted chestnut....another one I`d really like to catch. Weather a bit cold for trapping tonight, though Sunday looking better.
No, I've never caught one either, Ian.... well done, Isabel!

ReplyDeleteYou can add me to the "jealous as I've never caught one" list!
ReplyDeleteI'm on the list too.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty regular here at Cnwc. Apart from Steve's record, all those in Carms come from north of the Tywi. I'll Blog a map now.
