Carmel
A good catch on Saturday night with over 220 moths of 18 species - as might be expected, more than 90% were quaker group (Orthosia). Singles of satellite, brindled beauty, brindled pug, early grey and Diurnia fagella. Compare the same date last year when the temperature dropped to -4C and there were no moths....

Yes, many of mine on Saturday night were quakers too - 32 common quakers, 9 twin-spots, and 5 small quakers. Quaker-time!
ReplyDeletePut the `mobile actinic traps` out tonight - one in a oak/bilberry cwm and the other on the wet, birchy heath at Cencoed-uchaf, where I get orange underwings by day....where do they rest at night or in dull weather? If anything interesting caught, will blog...
